MORE FROM BILL BISHOP:
I look back at the 1960s as a great time to enter radio, and enjoy so many phases of it.
I met some great people in Ann Arbor, especially Bob Bartlett, now news anchor at KTAB-TV
in Abilene, TX, and Larry Zimmer, long-time Denver Bronco announcer at KOA, Denver. I had
the privelege of announcing NCAA basketball, baseball, and hockey championship games,
plus working next to Curt Gowdy and Don Meredith at the 1977 Rose Bowl game.
I moved to Norfolk in 1978 to announce AAA baseball games for three seasons, before moving
into the more general areas of sports, news, and production. I retired at the perfect time,
age 62, when technology started calling the shots!
