In addition to the stations I've listed here on this site, I've also worked at stations that there wasn't space to list. My passion has been radio since a long time! Specifically; News coverage and later severe, tropical, & Winter weather coverage...After several years of getting out of the broadcasting field all together, I decided to go back to school and complete my education in the geo-sciences and broadcast meteorology. From appx. 2012- 2016 I worked a at simulcasted group of lower power stations, after which I was approached by several stations in my state, to join them and handle; severe, tropical, and active Winter weather.
Knowing the reputation of The Market President of Townsquare Media - Tuscaloosa, along with having worked in the past or having previous connections to staff that worked for Townsquare Media - Tuscaloosa, I choose to accept the position they were offering me, which was; "In-House, Severe, Tropical, and Winter Weather Speciality Meteorologist"... (NOTE: Tuscaloosa and pretty much all of Alabama is located in the infamous; "Dixie-Alley" tornado and severe weather region of the Southeast, U.S.
**Bobby's most memorable moments include:
1) Getting to break, as a News Director, the infamous syringes being placed in Pepsi cans, back in the early to mid 1990's, on the national radio news network; Mutual Radio News, as well as to the Southeast Associated Radio News Network, and across the country on the old AP teletype news wires.2) This same thing occurred with the famous NASCAR race car driver, Davey Allison, who swas tragically killed in a helicopter crash, at The Talladega Super Speedway, in Talladega, Alabama.
3) To the best of my knowledge and research, I am one of only two dedicated meteorologist who came from a full radio background, that have decided to stay in radio on a local basis, and provide dedicated radio listener based weather forecast and especially during times of active; severe, tropical, and Winter weather events. I've established a comprehensive plan, with my Market President, that again to the best of my knowledge and research, only one other group of stations in the entire state of Alabama (and that state is out of our D.M.A.) is doing a providing, specifically to the RADIO listener (and not just simulcasting a TV based meteorologist) and providing them information in such a way, that they can better understand and comprehend our coverage on the radio, as opposed to other stations in the state, that just simulcast active TV based meteorologist, with little to no background, in true active severe, tropical, and Winter weather events! Especially during times of more severe weather outbreaks.
4) I have a past history of doing a Sunday morning air shift, generally on a country format station, of hosting Southern Gospel format programs, that there is a market for, especially in the South and particularly in certain demographics. This assist with increasing ratings, during a time on a Sunday morning, that isn't always a high ratings period for the stations I've hosted these programs at in the past and that brings critical revenue to the stations, during a time and on a day, when the commercial log was greatly made up of P.S.A.s and/or very very limited paid programming, that have been easy to reschedule.
5) In addition to my work in commercial radio broadcasting, I am also a licensed Amateur (Ham) Radio Operator, with stations set up at my home studio, mobile in my car, base stations at the station itself, along with small mobile handy talkies or walkie talkies, that allow me to communicate in true emergency situations, with law enforcement, other hams in the field that are trained storm spotters/chasers, that have been trained by The National Weather Service, that assist in bring back real time reports (or "ground truth") from the field, during times of active weather events, not only on the local, but regional, state, and even national, and international level, in the event of a tragic emergency, involving mass loss of life and or when emergency communications, outside of today's more main stream forms of communication...
