MORE FROM HARRY NELSON:
I became involved in Country Radio in the early 1990s, consulting
for Premiere Radio Networks owned "Big Dog 92.5" in Denver. In 1994, I
became PD at Greater Media's WBCS, now WKLB in Boston. I love this format
becuase the presenation is very reminicent of the Drake/Buzz Bennett style
of Top 40 from the 1960s and 1970s. Today's Country "Rocks". I would like
to think I have gotten pretty good at it. My station WPOR is #1 (25-54)
in Portland, Maine. I semi-retired for a while in 2003 and 2004 in Ft.
Myers, Fl. Got bored. You can play golf and ride a motorcycle just so
much. I returned home to New England and WPOR in 2005. Best move I every
Made.
I have had the true pleasure of working with some of the industries greats over
the years and learned much...from all of them. Gerry Cagle and Paul Drew gave me
my big break at WRKO, Boston in 1973, for which I will always be greatful.
Cagle also brought me to KFRC where I worked with the great Doctor Don Rose,
Dave "The Duke" Sholin, the wonderful Sue Hall, and "The Voice", Bobby Ocean.
We are all still friends and keep in touch.
I am such a lucky, blessed young man now. Still ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles
alot, and play very bad golf.
